Biggest Black Hole Discovered! It is 12 Billion Times More Massive Than the Sun!

Black Hole

With the team of global scientists discovering a black hole of inconceivable dimensions, the existing theories about the creation of black holes appear contradicted.

According to Reuters’, at 12 billion times more massive than the Sun, it challenges current cosmological thinking.

“Our discovery presents a serious challenge to theories about the black hole growth in the early universe,” said lead researcher Xue-Bing Wu of Peking University in China.

Formed 900 million years after the Big Bang, which happened approximately 13.8 billion years ago, it has grown considerably in a relatively short time. This discovery has left the scientists bewildered.
“Current theory is for a limit to how fast a black hole can grow, but this black hole is too large for that theory,” said fellow researcher Dr. Fuyan Bian, Australian National University.

Besides it being the biggest black hole known to mankind; it is located at the center of the biggest quasar ever found. Quasars are enormous and exceptionally distant celestial objects, which emit extremely large quantities of energy. Allegedly, they enclose gigantic black holes and may correspond to a phase in the evolution of some galaxies.

Incidentally, the black hole that is located at the center of the Milky Way is merely around four to five million times massive as than the Sun.

The team of international scientists at Peking University, China, whose findings will now be published in the journal, Nature was, in fact assigned to map the northern sky, when they discovered the giant black hole.
